This is awesome to hear Rebecca and congratulations.

And yes, it often having someone there to “kick our butts” that makes the real difference. I know a person whom did that for me just recently, and I know I really appreciated it.

OK I have your answer. Neat experience you’ve had!

For me this would be just sort of a way to close a loop. David is not having a lot of luck moving In Season and won’t reprint. I don’t want it to die altogether and am betting that life eternal in the Internet might pay dividends in 2-3 thousand years.

Oh my, those numbers are fascinating. What *are* those downloaders doing with a free read they wouldn’t pay 99 cents for? It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in ten years. . . .

Hi Rebecca,
I too have been toying with the same subject and your numbers were interesting, but told me nothing as well! :0) I think its a crap shoot. I have friends who have done what you’ve done and had moderate success. I’m still hoping for the big score, as I have an agent, but I still wonder, hmmm, what if?? I have a few short stories that I thought I’d do the same thing. I guess the good news is you are getting books into a readers hands and hopefully if they downloaded it they will eventually get around to reading it. I know I just got a review for a book I’ve had out for over a year after my publisher ran it for free on Amazon. It was a good one too. :0)

I don’t know what to think. The industry is changing at a rapid pace and my mind spins trying to keep up with it. It’s still a patience game though.

I did love what you said about writing because you love to write and improving your craft with each attempt. That’s what keeps me going, but I still want to build that readership.

Maybe some day, someone will find the secret formula.

Thanks for your thoughts, I enjoyed reading it.

Well, I’ve been meaning to ask you and another writer friend about this. I’ve been thinking about publishing my little book on my own, rather than doing the eternal beg and wait routine that never seems to come to anything. Just publish it, get it out there, and move on.

I’m afraid your data were of no use to me whatsoever. (grin)

But what do I know? I’m just a writer. (bigger grin)
