ABOUT THE ART
Rebecca creates plant prints from the leaves and berries she collects in her neighborhood and nearby wild places in Southern California throughout the year. She simmers leaves and paper stacked together with a mordant, and the organic prints become the backgrounds for her art.
She is also an avid bird photographer, always looking for the shot that captures the personality and beauty of the birds in her area. Each illustration pairs a bird from her photos with the plant print that suits it.
As a nature writer and the Co-Executive Director of a land conservancy, she finds the whole process a meditation on the biodiversity she hopes to help conserve for future generations.
